Brussels Beer Project
BBP is an innovative beer brewer with different locations in Brussels. Underneath the brewery in the locally well-known Dansaert area, there’s a cellar where their newest beer experiments are performed. The question for us was to transform part of the cellar into a space for cheerful beer tasting experiences.

client: Brussels beer project
aim: create an immersive beer tasting experience for visitors of the BBP location in Danseart area of Brussels

concept design

the designed and realized elements are:
painting of entrance area and staircase
floor painting
wallpainting
kitchen block with fridges
colorful room dividers
coolship top rack
coolship graphic in BBP identity
After selecting the most suited zone for these tastings, two concepts were drawn that differ by the way this zone relates to the rest of the cellar. In the first concept the visitor will be more immersed in the cellar, being part of an underground ambience with colorful elements, as inspired by BBP’s identity. In the second concept the zone can gradually be secluded with curtains, and is decorated with vintage furniture with a nostalgic vibe.
In agreement with the client's wishes, the first concept was further elaborated on. To emphasize the production process as the main function of the cellar, an extra element was introduced in the design process: a floor painting that highlights the walking route of the production line.

The result is an original and colorful area in BBP’s cellar suited for 30 thirsty visitors. The tasting area can be secluded using several panels. These panels are made from recycled PET fibers, have an acoustic quality and are designed with rounded edges that match with the kitchen element and beer tables.
The painted elements introduce BBP’s bold identity into the cellar and highlight the importance of the production process.
A ‘coolship’, that is used to cool down warm beer in the brewing process, is dressed up in BBP Dansaert graphic. Above we hung a rack that is made from reused oak staves from a former barrel. The rack is used to put herbs on, so that the warm beer can absorb the aromas through the air. Feeling thirsty already??
